The Russian Red Cross, the oldest humanitarian organization in our country, has been fulfilling its mission for 155 years, namely to prevent and alleviate human suffering, to protect life, health and human dignity.
The fate of the organization is inextricably linked with the history of the country. Among the historical events can be named the fight against plague and famine in the Russian Empire, medical care during the First World War, the Russo-Turkish War, the Crimean War, creation and construction of the All-Russian Artek summer camp in Crimea, invention of the first ambulance aircraft, heroism during the Great Patriotic War, beginning of the movement of voluntary blood donation, assistance in the liquidation of the Chernobyl disaster.
The Russian Red Cross is a member of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and the only recognized national organization representing the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement existing and operating on the territory of the Russian Federation in full compliance with the Fundamental Principles of the Movement.
The origins of the creation and development of the Russian Red Cross were the Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna, the famous Russian surgeon Nikolai Ivanovich Pirogov, the sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross Community, who initiated public medical care for wounded and sick soldiers during the Crimean War (1854−1855).

The virtual exhibition allows you to touch history, to learn about the people who have made a significant contribution to the development of the medical and social sphere in Russia, to get acquainted with interesting facts and archival materials concerning the activities of the International Movement. Individual items are available in 360 formats.
This exhibition is dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the Russian Red Cross, but the collection of the museum is constantly replenished, the renewal of exhibits is planned every 3 months, which will
allow creating a full-scale virtual museum of the Russian Red Cross in the near future.
